Hiya!
You may wonder with my latest DA journal title. I haven't posted one in a while and i do want to share my thoughts on a trend that i find disturbing. To me at least.
I did a collaboration with an artist friend a while back. He's really heavy into anime and what he said disturbed me. He says that he doesn't draw soldiers or guys because he finds them "boring". When i asked him to further elaborate, he just said he prefers women. Maybe it’s because of his anime thing. Or maybe because he’s a guy. I don't know really.
So this lead me to think. What and why are some characters labelled as boring? Not just by most artists but by the regular joe as well. Characters like Superman, maybe Captain America before the Disney/Marvel movie onslaught and Civil War, you know the do gooder characters. When we were kids, we never thought of Supes as corny, lame or boring. Maybe because we didn't know better or maybe we were too young to notice. It must be the trend or sign of the times. We don’t have a clue that guys who wear hoods or masks and sport black clothing are supposed to be “bad@$$”. Heck, that word wasn’t invented yet back then. Are characters like He-Man and his ilk “boring”? Are the anime slim and slender looking guys and gals the new sexy? Are buffed up and muscled crusaders of truth and justice out of fashion and passe’?
I’ve noticed that whenever an artist is given a “bad@$$” character to draw as an assignment, it’s like there’s minimal or no effort at all and he/she finds it “cool” but when you give them a “boring” character it then becomes a “challenge”. What gives?
I ask you guys, what or who to you is a boring character and why? It can be from comicbooks, movies, characters from novels or books. And who to you are bad@$$ characters?
The DA journal title is me mocking what the mainstream media and culture thinks is the standard. Any character could be corny, boring or bad@$$, in my opinion. It all boils down to characterization and content. So when did someone wearing black became a bad@$$? I thought that it has to do more with the attitude of the character and not with the color or kind of clothes that they are wearing. When did someone fighting for what’s right became “boring”?
What is wrong with trying to do the right thing?
This is meant to be an outlet for you guys who want to post your thoughts regarding this topic, both the good and the bad.
And yes, the “boring” and the “bad@$$”.

Perfect character trait for STOMP
Hello everyone!
If you noticed my lack of new Transformers art and it's because of my day job as a grade school teacher so i rarely get enough free time to do new TF art and post it here in DA. Hope that you guys bear with me.
With that out of the way, i'd like to ask you guys a favor. Could you help me come up with a character/personality type for my proposed sixth Dinobot STOMP? We all know the Dinobots and their specific character traits. Grimlock is the big kid in the schoolyard and thinks he's the king and the coolest. Snarl the hot tempered kid who always picks a fight with the big kid. Sludge the lazy, simple minded and contented kid
Superman Redesign and so called ICONIC REVERENCE
Hi!
With Action Comics 1000 and his 80th year anniversary, my feelings about his classic costume resurfaced since Brian Michael Bendis and DC Comics returned the character to that goofy red trunks look to celebrate his milestone. So i asked a deviant named umbatman to redesign a tasteful and cool Superman costume that reflects the times yet keeps the core essence of the character intact and he came up with not just one but five cool looking designs and that was impressive, considering he's not a big fan of Superman.
Let's just hope that DC will change their mind and POV and move the character and his mythology forward with the times. That g

Hello!
As most of you have noticed, i haven't posted anything in more than a year. I've been pretty much busy with my new job as a grade school teacher that i really don't have lots of free time at all, let alone to draw.
So to my deviant watchers, bear with me and as soon as i get some free time i will start drawing TF stuff and posting them as soon as i can. Until then, just bear with me.
Thanks.

First off, everyone has their own individual opinions and preferences. Certain people may find one character more appealing, where as others will find different characters more appealing.
Then there's the generation gap. These days it seems to be cool to be bad. All the traditional heroes like Superman and Captain America have been around for a long time and peoples perceptions and even values have changed since then. Newer, not so perfect characters like Deadpool are easier for younger people to relate to where as "boring" characters like Superman might seem a bit like programmed machine that has to stay within the rules of the programming.
Another factor is people are becoming more aware that things not always as they seem in the world. The people who supposed to be the good guys quite often aren't. As such, the likes of Captain America in the fictional world are champions of those that are oppressors/aggressors in the real world.
Just for the record, Captain America has always been one of my favourite characters since I was a kid
